This client's website serves over eight million Methodists worldwide. With hundreds of thousands of visitors each month, they chose our SiteDoc Content Management System (CMS) since they needed a robust, long-term solution for managing thousands of pages of content that are constantly being developed and managed by staff members throughout the organization.
Our SiteDoc deployment for the United Methodist Church consisted of all of the standard functions of our base system, plus a number of extensive customizations to fit the unique needs of their growing web ministry. These include additional tools to create what we call “content container” pages. This page type allows for uniformly formatted and positioned areas for content. These “containers” are easily added through simple web-based forms ensuring that any type of content can be placed on any page within the website. It also gives our client the flexibility to apply specific types of containers across just one page or one section of the website, for complete customization of their pages.
UMC also had a need for numerous data resources, including tools for managing a job openings board, a glossary of terms, an archive of judicial council decisions, and information about their organizational hierarchy and agencies. The UMC implementation also included extensive programming to seamlessly interface with their legacy data repository, Visual Elk. SiteDoc has the ability to interface with numerous legacy databases, ensuring quick deployment while giving our client the advantage of re-using content and data already in existence.
This deployment of SiteDoc also introduced the powerful concept of "theme-based" content delivery. Every document can be attached to a specific client defined topic or theme which then allows site visitors to view all documents under the theme or topic of most interest to them. By providing a user with the ability to personalize the type of content they wish to view, we provide a richer, more intuitive user experience since SiteDoc automatically gathers all like documents (regardless of where they lie within the website structure) for viewing.
Advanced help modules incorporated within each SiteDoc system ensure that help on how to use any tool within SiteDoc is just one click away. Using a state-of-the-art training that uses web-based multimedia animation, each tool and function is clearly illustrated step-by-step. Onsite training and ongoing technical support, as needed, are also a part of the services that are delivered with each SiteDoc deployment.
